James Brindley Academy’s Outreach Support Service continues to support schools in developing trauma informed approaches through the delivery of Thrive based training.
As part of ongoing outreach work with Erdington Academy, a session was delivered to support staff working with an individual pupil. The focus of this work is to embed strategies that reflect a deeper understanding of trauma and its impact on development.
Following the session, staff have strengthened their understanding of key areas including developmental strands of brain development, Adverse Childhood Experiences and relational approaches such as PACE. This shared understanding is essential in building consistent and supportive practice within the school environment.
This marks an important step in the wider programme of support, with further work planned to build on these foundations and continue to develop practice over time.
James Brindley Academy would like to thank the staff at Erdington Academy for their engagement, openness and commitment to developing their practice in support of their pupils.
