QE Achievement Awards Evening

Parent Information

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital /JBA Achievement Awards Evening held at the Edgbaston Park Hotel, part of Birmingham University, was an outstanding success. Jayne kicked off the evening by welcoming all the young people, family, friends and colleagues to this red-carpet event, celebrating the many diverse achievements of our young people.

Our guest speaker, Nadia Johnson Smith from Quilter Wealth Management, a major sponsor of Jayne Ruisi’s role, gave an uplifting presentation on the magic of motivation. Having faced adversity all her life she was passionate about the importance and power of self-belief. This was followed by David, one of our students who had been supported to prepare for and return to university, who spoke with passion about his journey through cancer and the benefits of having Jayne, a teacher on the Teenage and Young Adult Team, by his side.

Thanks to the support of the UHB Charity, students were delighted to receive a unique ‘Achievement Award’ pin badge, specially designed by Fattorini and a personalised certificate celebrating their individual achievement.

The presentation ceremony was followed by Pizza and refreshments, and time to admire the amazing art display celebrating the work of a year 13 student who had been offered several places to study Fine Art, including Central St. Martins. Such was her determination to be at the awards, she came straight from being discharged, got ready at the hotel and enjoyed a fabulous evening with her family and other young people.

Thanks to the support of colleagues from the Teenage and Young Adult Team, and hospital lead
Janine Zablocki, the evening was an outstanding success and has become an annual event.
