At James Brindley Academy, we are committed to ensuring that every pupil has access to an education that meets their individual needs and enables them to achieve their potential. While most pupils access their learning through our academy curriculum, there are occasions when an Alternative Provision (AP) placement can provide valuable additional support, experience or opportunities.

Alternative Provision may be used where it supports a pupil’s educational progress, personal development, wellbeing, attendance, engagement or preparation for adulthood. Decisions are made carefully and are always centred around the individual needs of the pupil. Wherever possible, alternative provision complements a pupil’s education at James Brindley Academy and forms part of a wider personalised package of support.

Quality and Safeguarding

All alternative provision placements are carefully risk assessed, monitored and reviewed. The academy works closely with providers, pupils and families to ensure that placements are safe, purposeful and contribute positively to the pupil’s outcomes. Attendance, engagement, progress and wellbeing are reviewed regularly to ensure the provision remains effective.
