Autumn
Students will study aspects of Christianity, focusing on beliefs and teachings including the nature of God, the life of Jesus Christ and beliefs about the afterlife. |
Students will also study the thematic topic of Relationships and Family and will look at ethical and religious views on issues such as marriage, divorce, contraception and same-sex relationships.
Spring
Students will study aspects of Christianity, focusing on religious practices such as worship, prayer and pilgrimage. Students will study aspects of Islam, focusing on beliefs and teachings including the nature of God, the life of the prophets and beliefs about the afterlife. |
Students will also continue their study of the Relationships and Family topic.
Summer
Students will study aspects of Islam, focusing on religious practices such as worship, prayer and pilgrimage. |
Students will also study the thematic topic of Peace and Conflict and will look at ethical and religious views on issues such as terrorism, war and pacifism.
How is the course assessed
Students are assessed through weekly homework activities that they can completed at home or at school. Students will also sit a 1hr 45m mock exam in December.

Students can download AQA Religious Studies Short Course exam papers from the AQA website. |
Students can, if desired, purchase the Oxford University Press textbook for the AQA Religious Studies Christianity and/or AQA Religious Studies Islam. Purchase of these books is not essential but could assist with revision.
