Gymnasics – pupils will learn a range of movements, balances and rolls within floor gymnastics, partnered gymnastics and vaulting.

 

Autumn 2

Invasion games – pupils will learn sport specific skills, tactics and rules for Benchball, football, rugby and Hockey

Spring 1

Net and wall games - Pupils will learn the skills, rules and tactics of Volleyball, Badminton and Tennis.

Spring 2

Striking and Fielding - pupils will learn the skills rules and tactics of rounder’s and cricket.

 

Summer 1

Athletics - pupils will improve their techniques for throwing, running and jumping events in preparation for sports day.

 

Summer 2

 

Outdoor Adventurous Activities - pupils will learn orienteering skills as well as opportunities to try other outdoor activities such as rock climbing and canoeing through approved activity providers. 

 

 

 

 

 How is the course assessed

Pupils will be observed in weeks 6, 7 of each half term.

 How can you support your childs at home

Ensure that your son/ daughter wears jogging bottoms/ leggings, trainers and a T-shirt on a Monday. Long hair must be tied back and all jewellery removed.

Pupils are taught how to maintain their fitness at home. Parents can encourage their children to do the circuit based fitness activities covered in school 3 times per week.

 

 

 KS3

Autumn 1

Continue Unit 1- Be able to use leadership skills and behaviours effectively.

Begin Unit 2- Know how to plan structured and inclusive sport/ physical activity.

Summer

 How is the course assessed

Autumn

Students will be observed acting as an official for 15 minutes.

Students will carry out an audit of their own skills at the start of the course (to be reviewed at the end of course)

 

Students will be able to use leadership skills and behaviours effectively.

Spring

Presentation- Describe 2 different activities for each- Warm up, skill development, playground games, conditioned games and cool down.

Create a plan for at least 3 sport/ activity sessions.

Summer

Assist in leading at least 1 x 15 minute sport activity.

Complete 1 hour demonstration of leadership.

Complete a review of session.
