 Autumn

PE lessons – Invasion games – pupils will learn sport specific skills, tactics and rules for Benchball, football, rugby and Hockey

AHOS – The principles of fitness, circuit training and continuous training.

PE lessons – Tennis – skills, rules and tactics.

AHOS – fitness, skills and health related fitness. Interval training.

 

 Spring

Net and wall games - Pupils will learn the skills, rules and tactics of Volleyball and Badminton

AHOS – ancient Olympics – pupils will learn about the history of sport and will try some of the events from the ancient Olympics

Performance activities – e.g. dance, gymnastics and swimming.

AHOS – game designs – pupils will look at how games and sports are designed and how they develop. They will have the opportunity to design their own sports/ games.

 

 

 Summer

Rounders – pupils will learn the skills rules and tactics.

AHOS – Cricket – games from around the world.

Athletics – pupils will improve their techniques for throwing, running and jumping events in preparation for sports day.

AHOS – outdoor and adventurous activities – Exploring the great outdoors.

 

 How is the course assessed

Pupils will be observed in weeks 6, 7 of each half term.

 

 How can you support your child at home

  • Ensure that your son/ daughter wears jogging bottoms/ leggings, trainers and a T-shirt on a Monday. Long hair must be tied back and all jewellery removed.
  • Pupils are taught how to maintain their fitness at home. Parents can encourage their children to do the circuit based fitness activities covered in school 3 times per week.
