‘Think Differently to inspire young people to overcome all barriers and achieve their dreams.’
Do you want to have a positive impact on some of the most vulnerable children’s lives in Birmingham?
Do you want to work in an organisation that recognises the benefits of a good work/life balance for their workforce?
Do you want to work in a school that invests heavily in CPD and allocates additional training days to develop their staff?
If you have answered ‘yes’ to all these questions, join our team! We are seeking a talented individual with experience of teaching music to a high standard, who can provide strong leadership to the music department so that teaching and learning is consistently good or better. Whilst previous experience of working in a specialist setting may be beneficial, many of our staff come from a mainstream background. Full and comprehensive training will be given to support the transition.
As a creative person, with a passion for music, you will have excellent subject and pedagogical knowledge. Many of our young people have gaps in their education, you will need to have a creative approach to teaching to reduce the impact of educational disadvantage, enabling all our Young People to access learning and make expected progress.
We are looking for a resilient and dynamic teacher who can inspire young people. You should be able to develop and support the needs of the whole child and be committed to enabling all young people to thrive. You must demonstrate tenacity coupled with recent experience of working in the education sector with KS3 and KS4 pupils. You should have a track record as a consistently good/outstanding practitioner. You must be willing to work across all our centres.
James Brindley is a stand-alone Academy based in a wide variety of locations across the City of Birmingham. During a school year, we educate over 3,000 pupils for periods ranging from a few days in hospital to several years in one of our teaching centres. Many of our pupils have complex medical needs and many have been out of education for a significant period prior to joining the school.
We offer a full-time curriculum to young people from EYFS to KS5 and our aim is always to enable them to ‘close the gap’ and to exceed expected progress during the time they are with us.
