Functional Skills in IT - OCR
Autumn - Summer
Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia are media sector-focused, including film, television, web development, gaming and animation, and have IT at their heart. They provide knowledge in a number of key areas in this field from pre-production skills to digital animation and have a motivating, hands-on approach to both teaching and learning. Cambridge Nationals deliver skills across the whole range of learning styles and abilities, effectively engaging and inspiring all students to achieve great things. We study two compulsory units which cover Pre-Production and Digital graphics, as well as optional units such as Cartoon Strip design, website design and digital animation. Pupils not taking the Creative iMedia course may take a Functional Skill in IT qualification. Functional Skills are practical skills in English, Maths and ICT for all learners aged 14 and above. Functional Skills provide an individual with essential knowledge, skills and understanding that will enable them to operate confidently, effectively and independently in life and work.

How is the course assessed
Every half term there will be a formal assessment based on the content covered that term. This could be a practical task such as digital graphics editing or a theory exam. |
These assessments will be used to inform pupils of their progress in the key topic areas of the course.
Functional Skills will be assessed with an online, practical based test.
How can you support your child at home
