James Brindley Academy has achieved Artsmark Gold Award!

Our Academy has been recognised that it is strongly committed to the Arts and our Artsmark journey has had a very positive impact on the young people we work with.

"We believe every child should have the opportunity to create, compose, and perform, as well as to visit, experience, participate in and review extraordinary work. Artsmark can help unlock the potential of children and young people, help to develop character and talent, and increase their knowledge and understanding. That’s why Artsmark was created: to bring this ambition to life in every classroom." - Artsmark

JBA is strongly committed to the Arts and our Artsmark journey has had a very positive impact on the quality of provision for the young people we work with.

The newly appointed Arts Champion is making a difference by not only monitoring the Arts teaching and learning across the primary phase but also by increasing art accreditations and being trained to deliver Arts Award.

Our plan to help increase awareness of the Arts as a career of choice has been strategically planned for and implemented through a five-phase stepped programme to ensure all our young people can access this at a level that is appropriate to them.

The appointment of a careers outreach staff member leading to develop further links with arts and cultural organisations providing opportunities for work experience will help to sustain our five-phase stepped programme.

We have acted on pupil suggestions and as a consequence, have introduced performing arts, photography, music, textile/printmaking, dance, animation, drumming, DJ'ing and film making.

An arts education helps build academic skills and increase academic performance, while also providing alternative opportunities to reward the skills of children who learn differently.

James Brindley Academy is a champion of the Arts, and the impact it can have on a young persons education, and we couldn't be more thrilled to have achieved the Gold Award.
